Carey is a former fashion model. She stands almost 5'10" tall and was popular among top American designers such as Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, etc. Her father is an accomplished scientist who was named Scientist of the Year in 1979, at the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists. Her father was a scientist who travelled across the globe as part of his professional career. In her college years, she began to model for a small amount of time and was able to attract the attention to Ford model Agency representatives in New York. The model lived in France briefly, in Paris as well as Bordeaux. She then returned home to New York for her college studies and to further develop her modeling career. She attended full-time classes in New York University, obtaining her degree in literature between modeling assignments. In New York she began to study acting. In 1986, she got her first acting role, a bit part in Club Paradise, with Robin Williams. In her spare time, she enjoys skiing, white-water rafting, wind-surfing and climbing rocks.
